Blogs of the Week -- Grade nine' views of Persepolis
If you want to see a great example of ninth grade blog, have a look at Layla Cox's post on Persepolis. One great thing about her blog is the use of space and the organization of her layout.
She provides great examples of Satrapi's retelling of wartime in Iran, and her analysis is focused and insightful.
At the end of the post, she has published an original poem that provides additional insight
into the story. Great work, Layla!
Zahra Aziz is equally diligent in her analysis of examples from the book. She chose to focus on Satrapi's story of personal rebellion, and Zahra's creative piece applies these themes to an original poem. Follow this link to see Zahra's blog!
Shiva Wolf shows us how being selective can help to tell a story selectively. In the example here, he picks a single panel from a page and quotes the content.
For a creative element, Shiva wrote an original dialogue between Marji and her mother. He imagines a conversation they might have had after Marji sees the destruction of a bomb in a neighborhood and realizes that she knows one of the victims.
You can check out Shiva's post at this link.
